On Friday, September 11 in mazowieckie and małopolskie provinces prices of red, orange and yellow sweet peppers packed in cartons of 5 kg were very similar - from 3.00 to 3.10 PLN (0.72-0.74 euro)/kg.

On Tuesday, September 8, in the big production area of sweet peppers (Przytyk in mazowieckie provinces), the price of red pepper for processing was 2 PLN (0.48 euro)/kg.

In the big production area of sweet peppers (Przytyk in mazowieckie province) prices of the white and green pepper remain stable week-on-week.

Last week price of red sweet peppers stabilized. In the production area of Przytyk (mazowieckie province), on Tuesday, August 18 the price of red peppers was 3.15 PLN (0.75 euro)/kg i.e. didn’t change week-on-week.

Prices of domestic sweet peppers have been decreasing for a few weeks. At the moment the weather is favourable for their growth so on the market there is rather big supply.

Despite many summer storms, warm and sunny weather are favourable for growth of sweet peppers. Prices of peppers are rather stable with slight downward trend.

Prices of green and white sweet peppers remain stable. On Wednesday, July 29 the price of green pepper was 2.20 – 2.60 PLN (0.52-0.62 euro)/kg and the price of white pepper was 2.70 – 3.00 PLN (0.64 – 0.71 euro)/kg.

On the market one can observe a big increase in supply of red, yellow and orange sweet peppers. As a result their prices much decreased – by over 1 PLN (0.23 euro)/kg week-on-week.

Wholesale prices of domestic sweet peppers are rather stable as a result of stable supply of these vegetables on the market.

Domestic red pepper already appeared on the Polish market, however the supply is not big. On Tuesday, July 7, in mazowieckie province, in the area of big production (Przytyk) the price of red pepper was 6 PLN (1.37 euro)/kg.

A few sunny days in the end of June caused that more green pepper growing in mazowieckie province appeared on the market. On Tuesday, the price of green pepper packed in cartons 5 kg was 2.50 PLN (0.55 euro)/kg.

The supply of domestic sweet peppers isn’t still very big but there are more and more of peppers on the market. One can expect that the supply especially of green peppers will considerably increase in a few days.

In the area of Przytyk (mazowieckie province) the purchase of early Chinese cabbage is ending and the harvest of sweet peppers is starting.

Despite the bad weather there are more and more domestic sweet peppers on the market. However only white and green peppers are available at the moment.

The first supplies of the domestic white peppers from the area of Przytyk (mazowieckie province) appeared on the market.

How we already informed on the Polish market the prices of most imported vegetables decreased. However prices of red pepper imported from Spain remain stable.

At the end of last week the prices of imported sweet peppers increased again. On Friday, 13 March the price of Spanish peppers were as follows:

On Monday, 2 March the price of sweet peppers imported from Spain was by few % higher than last week and reached the level of 37 PLN (euro)/5 kg box. Moreover the prices are higher than at the same time last year.

At the moment on the Polish market there are red sweet peppers from Turkey, Spain and Israel.

According to the latest data of Analytical Centre of Customs Administration(CAAC) during the period from January to September this year Poland imported more pepper than in the same period of 2007.

On Tuesday, 25th November on the wholesale market in Bronisze prices of pepper imported from Spain fluctuated from 7.81 to 9.11 euro/box of 5 kg and prices of imported pepper imported from the Netherlands from 6.77 to 7.81 euro/box of 5 kg.

Thanks to the warm weather the processing plants are still purchasing the red pepper (without stem and seeds).

Since the season of domestic pepper is ending, companies which so far bought the domestic pepper for supplying retail shops, started selling imported pepper.

This season export of Polish pepper is practically finished. The pepper which is still on the market due to low quality can’t be exported as won’t withstand the transport.

In mazowieckie province the purchase price of yellow pepper (size of 70-90 mm and in cardboard boxes of 10 kg) intended for export is about 0.94 euro/kg.

Prices of red sweet peppers (without stem, calyx and seeds) for processing are lower than last year. At present in purchasing centres price of red sweet peppers is 0.51-0.53 EUR/kg, and last year the average price was 0.56 EUR/kg.

There are less and less of domestic sweet peppers on the market. One can expect that in about 2 weeks the season will end.
