In the period under review at the capital's wholesale market prices for fruits and for vegetables were declining.

The past week started with the regular changes in prices of citrus fruits and on the Moscow market. The price of lemons from Turkey increased from 32 (0,81 EUR) to 36 rubles (0,91 EUR) per kg, Mandarin from Pakistan - from 40 (1,01 EUR) to 45 rubles (1,14 EUR) per kg.

The end of March and the beginning of April did not bring any changes in the current trends on vegetables market. Supply of domestic vegetables is getting smaller what influences prices of some vegetables. It concerns especially onions.

The market of domestic vegetables is rather quiet so far and prices of vegetables are stable at the moment. Only the price of Chinese cabbage is slowly growing (the purchase price is from 1.20 PLN (0.31 €)/kg).

As we have already mentioned, it seems that the prices of onions have reached the level that adversely affects the demand. Prices have stabilized at the level of 1.10 – 1.25 PLN (0.28-0.32 €)/ kg depending on the region of Poland.

Last week one could observe many changes on the apples market. In one production area prices decreased while in another area increased. Generally trade companies purchased considerably less apples than previous weeks. In the area of Grójec area prices of apples significantly fell, by average 0.10-0.20 PLN (0.025-0.05 €)/kg. Price of Idared, size 70+, from ordinary cold storage, decreased from 0.70-0.80 PLN(0.17-0.20 €)/kg to 0.65-0.70 PLN (0.16-0.17 €)/kg. more ::.

Last week one could observe the price stagnation on the apples market. Trade companies purchased much smaller quantities of apples and prices did not change in comparison with previous week. more ::.

Last week red varieties of apples such as Shampion, Gloster and Jonagold are in bigger demand but only apples from cold stores. In the companies which purchase apples the price of apples of size 70 + was from 0.70 to 0.80 PLN (0.17-0.20 €)/kg and the price of apples 80 + was from 0.80 to 0.90 PLN (0.20-0.22 €)/kg.

Last week one could observe a slight increase in the prices of apples, however it is due to the beginning of purchase of apples from cold stores, and not real price growth.

Prices of apples for processing remained stable. In purchasing centers the price was 0.15 PLN (0.037 euro)/kg and in processing plants - 0.18 – 0.19 PLN (0.044-0.47 euro)/kg. The supply of such apples is of course rather low – only waste from stores and cold stores. Export of apples to the east is slowly growing what influences the prices. more ::.
