High prices of Iceberg lettuce
Low supply of imported Iceberg lettuce results in high prices. On Tuesday, March 9, the wholesale price of Iceberg Lettuce was 55 - 58 PLN (14.17-14.95 €)/box 10 pcs.

The demand for Chinese cabbage from domestic as well as foreign recipients is quite big. However due to large stocks of this cabbage its price increases very slowly.

White cabbage from storage clamp adversely influence prices
The weather improved and as a result the supply of white cabbage is bigger. On the market cabbage from storage clamp appeared and prices decreased. On Friday, March 5, the purchase price of cabbage was from 0.60 PLN (0.15 €)/kg.

Polish onion too expensive for eastern markets
As we have already mentioned, it seems that the prices of onions have reached the level that adversely affects the demand. Prices have stabilized at the level of 1.10 – 1.25 PLN (0.28-0.32 €)/ kg depending on the region of Poland.

Bigger supply of root vegetables
The weather improved what resulted in bigger supply of root vegetables on the market. Producers have no longer problems with handling and delivering the goods. So far growth in supply did not significantly affect prices and contributed largely to their stability.

Stable prices of onion
After the very high demand for onions, which one could see in February, the onion market is relatively calm at the moment. The demand is still high but clearly lower than a few weeks ago.

Stocks of Chinese cabbage sufficient
The demand for Chinese cabbage remained at high level. According to information it from producers stocks of this cabbage in cold stores are still considerable and should be sufficient for the next two months. The quality of the cabbage is quite good.

Poor quality of Spanish tomatoes
This season, Spain has big problems with the quality of tomatoes. Despite this the supply of Spanish tomatoes on the Polish market is quite big. Poor quality of tomatoes from Spain influence their less competitiveness against Moroccan tomatoes, and even Turkish.

Growing supply of Moroccan strawberries
More and more companies are beginning to import strawberries from Morocco. On the wholesale markets one can observe growing supply of these strawberries.
