Chinese cabbage – the main export vegetable

At this time of year Polish offer of vegetables for export is limited to root vegetables and brassicas. According to exporters the demand for Polish vegetables is not big at the moment. The high demand for onion and white cabbage also finished due to high prices. On the Russian market Dutch onion successfully competes with the Polish onion.

The exception is Chinese cabbage, which is the main export product at the moment and its price grows. On Monday, March 1, prices of Chinese cabbage were different depending on the area of Poland. The lowest producer prices were in Lódź region – from 1.2 PLN (0.30 €)/kg for good quality green cabbage. The highest prices were in mazowieckie province - 1.50 – 1.60 PLN (0.38-0.41 €)/kg (all prices without packaging).
