Crops of fruit in 2008

The Polish Central Statistical Office (GUS) published on its website "Preliminary results of assessing of main crops in 2008". This document contains data among others about potatoes, field vegetables, fruit from fruit-bearing trees and fruit from plantation.

Crops of fruit from fruit-bearing trees are assessed at above twice as bigger as last year and it is supposed to be close 3 million ton. Crops of apples are assessed at the level of 241.8% of last year crops, pears at the level of 222.3%, plums at the level of 195.3%, sour cherries at the level of 181.8%, cherries at the level of 203.4% of last year crops.

As regards fruit from plantations this year's crop are assessed at about 551 thousand ton i.e. by about 28% more than in 2007. Crops of strawberries are assessed at the level of 115.3% of the last year’s crops, raspberries at the level of 142.9%, currants at the level of 140.1% and gooseberries at the level of 121.7% of the last year’s crops.
