Decline in profitability of fruit production

The decline in profitability of fruit production have been lasting from 70’s. According to examinations conducted by Association of Short Tree Orchards only about 30 % of producers achieve good profits at the level of 5-15%.

Very good economic conditions concern only orchards reaching good crops of fruit of high quality and having well organised selling of fruit. The number of such orchards have been slightly rising and now is assessed at 2000-4000 i.e. 1.3-2.6 % of the total number of orchards.
