Early cabbage – what next?

Due to drought the supply of early cabbage was not as fast as expected. In some regions of Poland prices of this vegetable have risen at the end of May. However few rainy days and warmer weather stopped problems with supply.

In the passing week there was much more cabbage on the market what was reflected in prices. Cabbage is bigger and heavier. Currently purchase price is 0.50 – 0.60 PLN/ kg. In purchase points where cabbage is being bought by piece prices are at the level of 0.70 - 0.90 PLN/ piece.

What can we expect next? It seems that prices will be low. Till now the demand is limited and covers only Polish market. There is no interest in cabbage among exporters. If export will not start producers and traders will be forced to decrease  prices. The supply seems to be high unless it rains for longer time what once again will reflect in quality of cabbage.
