Early Chinese cabbage already on the market

Early Chinese cabbage has already appeared on the market. Its price is still quite high but Polish cabbage can already compete with imported cabbage. While on Tuesday, May 4, the price of Chinese cabbage imported from Hungary was 4 PLN (1.02 €)/kg, the price of domestic cabbage was 3.00 – 3.50 PLN (0.76-0.89 €)/kg.

The supply of domestic Chinese cabbage is still low and the demand quite big so its price will remain stable in the coming days. So far the early Chinese cabbage is harvested in the south of Poland (małopolskie province) and in the southern part of mazowieckie province. The harvest of Chinese cabbage in big producing areas near Łęczyca and Kalisz will start probably in three weeks.
