Field cucumbers: lower supply as a result of bad weather

On the domestic market a supply of field cucumbers decreased what resulted in price increase. On Tuesday, August 19th price of cucumbers of size 6-9 (for pickling) was 0.60 EUR/kg, price of cucumbers of size 9-12 was about 0.30 EUR/kg.

Bigger cucumbers (12-15 and 15-18) were cheaper (0.12 EUR/kg). Storms and heavy rains which passed above Poland last days caused considerable losses of many cucumbers plantations. Prices of cucumbers can decrease provided it turns out that damage wasn't too big. Otherwise supply of cucumbers will be too little and their prices will be high.
