High prices of lettuces

Weather in current season is extremely unfavourable for lettuces. Open field grown lettuces tend to rot due to much rain.  Lettuces grown under protection need to be heated already. As a result prices of some lettuces are high. It also concerns Iceberg lettuce. Supply of domestic lettuce is low and its prices much fluctuate depending on the region – from 1.70 PLN (0.43 euro)/pcs. to even 4.00 PLN (1.02 euro)/pcs. On Wednesday, September 15 on the Warsaw wholesale market in Bronisze the price of Iceberg lettuce imported from Italy was 3.80 PLN (0.97 euro)/pcs.
