Hungary: problems with apples for processing

Not only Polish producers have every year problems with purchase prices of apples for processing. Producers of apples in Hungary appealed to the government to take action to improve their situation, first of all as regards apples for processing.

At present price of 1 kg of Hungarian apples for processing is 0.039 - 0.042 euro, while the average production costs are at the level of 0.086 - 0.10 euro/kg. Hungarian producers are threatening a strike and the demonstrations if any solution don’t be found and their situation don’t improve. In Poland this week fruit growers have started blockades of several processing plants throughout the country as a result of the lack of the agreement with processing plants on purchase prices of apples for processing.
