Low profitability of aubergines production

This year purchase prices of aubergines in the area of Radom are exceptionally low. Last years many producers are moved from the production of sweet peppers to the production of aubergines because of better production profitability.

However this year's season is one of the worst as regards profitability. Purchase prices decreased to 0.30 -0.45 EUR/kg for aubergines of 1st class packed in cardboard boxes of 8 kg. On the wholesale market in Sandomierz price of aubergines is 0.61 – 0.67 EUR/kg (1st class, in bags of 5 kg).

According to producers of aubergines the low profitability is a result of worsening of the trade with eastern recipients (among others problems with getting the certificate in the export to Russia).
