Lower purchase price of onions

In 2008 GUS estimated harvests of onions at lower level than last year (about 650 thousand t, i.e. by 13 % less). However as for now the supply of onions on the market grows what causes the decline in purchase prices.

Last week in surroundings of Krosno price of onions purchased for retail market was 0.15-0.16 EUR/kg and this week price has decreased to 0.12-0.13 EUR/kg. In Tarnobrzeg purchase price lowered by about 0.03 EUR to 0.18 EUR/kg and in Białystok prices decreased by 0.06 EUR to 0.18 EUR/kg.
