Onion – season of high prices?

Production of onion is lower every season and its prices grow. Current season is difficult not only for onion producers. Supply of onion is low and additionally the quality is low. At the moment price of onion is 1.00-1.20 PLN (0.25-0.30 euro)/kg while in corresponding period of last years it was 0.40 – 0.60 PLN/kg. Last year prices of onion increased only at the end of October to 1.00 PLN/kg and in the spring 2010 the price was 1.70 PLN (0.43 euro)/kg. Looking at the situation in this season one can predict that price of onion may increase to 2.00 PLN (0.50 euro)/kg in the spring 2011.
