Poland: decrease in sour cherries plantation

In 2000-2007 area of sour cherries orchards in Poland were increasing much and in 2007 reached the highest level about 40 thousand ha. In 2007-2008 one could notice the fall in area of sour cherries by about 4000 ha.

The biggest area of sour cherries is in mazowieckie province and in 2008 amounts to 10 thousand ha with crop about 69 thousand t but in 2007-2008 this area decreased by 4%. In 2009 the area of sour cherries orchards will probably further decrease due to the unprofitable production of sour cherries in 2006-2008.
