Poland: decreasing demand for strawberries

The cold weather at the beginning of June resulted in decreasing demand for dessert strawberries. In hot days the demand for strawberries would be much higher.

Moreover the rainy weather adversely affects the quality of strawberries what has additional influence on the demand. Despite the lower supply of strawberries one can observe the decrease in sales. More fruits are intended for processing what additionally contributes to the low purchase prices. On Wednesday, May 3 the purchase price of strawberries (with the stem) for processing was 1.50 PLN (0.33 euro)/2kg but the price can decrease even to 1 PLN (0.22 euro)/2kg, when bigger quantities of strawberries which didn't be sold as the dessert strawberries, appear in the purchasing centers.
