Poland: growing prices of cucumbers

At the beginning of the week the prices of greenhouses cucumbers are still growing. They are still lower than in the corresponding period of last year.

On Monday, October 12 prices of long cucumbers were at the level of 3.50 PLN (0.82 euro)/kg and prices of short cucumbers - 3.60 - 4.20 PLN (0.84-0.99 euro)/kg. In 2008, at the end of September and at the beginning of October, the average price of long cucumbers was 4.75 PLN (1.11 euro)/kg and price of short ones was 5.13 PLN (1.20 euro)/kg. So this year prices will probably further increase. However last year high prices caused that imported cucumbers appeared on the market very quickly.
