Poland: industrial tomatoes – prices better than last year

Processing plants have already started the purchase of tomatoes. Last week price of tomatoes for juice concentrate was about 0.35 PLN/kg, while last year it was by 0,02 PLN/kg less.

The prices of tomatoes for freezing were from 0.55 PLN/kg (mazowieckie province) to 0.65 PLN/kg (kujawsko-pomorskie province). Last year the average price of tomatoes for freezing was 0.50 PLN/kg. This season is difficult for tomatoes due to adverse weather – too much rain caused many diseases. As a result the supply of industrial tomatoes is less and their prices are higher.
