Poland: lower import of vegetables

According to preliminary data from Polish Analytical Centre of Customs Administration (CAAC) import of fresh and processed vegetables is lower than in 2008.

Between January and August 2009 Poland imported 299,2 thousand t of fresh vegetables at value 213,7 m euro. Compared to the same period of last year the volume of imported fresh vegetables dropped by about 20 % and their value by 12 %. As regards processed vegetables the import volume amounted to 134,9 thousand t (-26 %) at value 102,1 m euro (-2 %).
