Poland: production of white headed cabbages

Much rain and warm weather during a few last days were favourable for vegetation of headed cabbages.

In podkarpackie and mazowieckie provinces the purchase prices of white cabbage for the retail market was 0.80 - 1.00 PLN (0.18-0.23 euro)/pcs. Compared to last year the prices are lower by about 0.20 - 0.25 PLN (0.05-0.06 euro)/pcs. The purchase price of the white cabbage in the current season is forecasted at the level 0.50 PLN (0.11 euro)/kg i.e. by 0.20 PLN (0.05 euro)/kg more than last year. A rise in purchase prices cabbage is caused by expected reduction in crops - 1135 thousand t against 1201 thousand t in 2008.
