Polish market overview - 11 week 2011

In 11 week 2011 prices of citrus fruit slightly changed. Price of oranges imported from Spain was 40 PLN (10 euro)/10 kg or 45 PLN (11.25 euro)/14 kg.

Export of apples was lower and some export companies tried to decrease the purchase prices of apples. However at the end of the week prices came back to the previous level. The producer price of Idared was 1.90-2.00 PLN/kg for apples from ordinary cold stores and 2.10-2.30 PLN (0.52-0.57 euro)/kg for apples from CA.

Wholesale price of onion remained stable. The average price of domestic onion was about 1.15 PLN/kg. The maximum price of onion imported from Holland was 1.40 PLN (0.35 euro)/kg. The demand for imported onion was low.

The price of cabbage reached 2.20 PLN (0.55 euro)/kg. such price was too high and adversely influenced the demand, especially in export. The wholesale price of Chinese cabbage also increased to 3.35 PLN (0.84 euro)/kg and was by 0.10 PLN (0.025 euro)/kg higher week-on-week.

Prices of potatoes slightly rose and the average wholesale price reached 1.19 PLN (0.30 euro)/kg and was by 0.02 PLN (0.005 euro)/kg higher than in week 10. The price of potatoes for export (size min. 5 +) was 1.35 PLN (0.34 euro)/kg.

The average wholesale price of carrot was 1.10 PL (0.27 euro)/kg.
