Polish market overview – 39 week 2011

Wholesale price of white cabbage remained stable at the level 0.25 PLN (0.06 euro)/kg or 0.30-0.50 PLN (0.07-0.12 euro)/pcs depending on size. Producer price was 0.10-0.30 PLN (0.02-0.07 euro)/kg.

Wholesale prices of Chinese cabbage also decreased from 0.90 (0.22 euro) to 0.85 PLN (0.21 euro)/kg. Producer price was 0.40-0.60 PLN (0.10-0.14 euro)/kg.

Decrease in prices concerned also carrot. Its average price fell from 0.70 (0.17 euro) to 0.65 PLN (0.16 euro)/kg and the most often selling prices of carrot were in the range 0.50-0.70 PLN (0.12--.17 euro)/kg.

As regards potatoes their average wholesale price fell from 0.40 (0.0 euro) to 0.30 PLN (0.07 euro)/kg. Price has reached the lowest level since the beginning of this season.

By contrast prices of tomatoes increased after long period of falling prices. Average prices of tomatoes size BB increased from 1.08 (0.26 euro) to 1.50 PLN (0.36 euro)/kg.

Wholesale prices of citrus fruit was generally stable. Price of mandarins was an exception. These fruit get more expensive by 21 % to 64-72 PLN (15.53-17.48 euro)/10 kg. Prices of lemons imported from Argentina also slightly increased to 70-78 PLN (17.00-18.93 euro)/18 kg.
Price of grapefruit imported from RSA was from 65 to 70 PLN (15.78-17.00 euro)/16 kg. Price of oranges from RPA also remained stable at the level 65-72 PLN (15.78-17.47 euro)/18 kg or 50-54 PLN (12.13-13.11 euro)/16 kg.
