Production profitability of cherries

Production cost calculation conducted by Horticultural Economics Department of IAFE-NRI (ZEO-IERiGŻ-PIB) shows that domestic production of cherries was profitable in years 2003 and 2005 and unprofitable in years 2004 and 2006.

Index of production profitability (producer price / total cost of production x 100%) in years 2004 – 2007 was about 59 %. The highest index 134 % - showing that prices obtained were higher than total production cost by 34 % - was reached in 2003. In 2007 production cost was higher by 22 % than purchase price.
