Rise of pineapples import

According to CAAC in January and February 2008 Poland imported 1729 tons of fresh pineapples valued at 1202 thousand EUR. In the same period of last year volume of import was 1429 tons valued at 1042 thousand EUR.

It was 16 % increase in volume and 15 % in value. Pineapples were imported mainly from South American countries: Costa Rica, Honduras and Brazil. Costa Rica was major supplier (over 60 % of total import).
