Situation on the market of Polish apple juice concentrate
Low supply of apples for processing (caused by spring frost) and high purchase prices influenced on decrease of Polish apple juice concentrate export in the season 2007/2008.
Total export amounted about 110 thousand tones i.e. by 50 % lower than in previous season 2006/2007. In autumn 2007 prices of apples for processing was very high and exceeded even 0.30 EUR/kg (average price was 0.28 EUR/kg). In spring 2008 prices decreased because processing plants had enough concentrate produced. Many plants stayed with unsold concentrate which could not sell at profitable prices. According to forecasts prepared by IAFE-NRI (ZEO-IERiGŻ-PIB) in the season 2008/2009 prices of apples for processing will be at level of prices of the season 2006/2007 (0.11 – 0.12 EUR/kg). Export of apple juice concentrate may increase considerably (by 30 – 40 %) in comparison with previous season.
