Upward trend in production of ketchup and tomato pastes

Domestic production of ketchup and tomato pastes has been increasing systematically since accessing Poland to the EU in 2004. According to forecasts for 2008 production can reach 110 thousand tons while in 2004 it was 68 thousand tons.

The increased production is possible thanks to the import of a tomato concentrate because domestic production of tomatoes for processing in spite of production aid system does not show upward trend. In two previous seasons over 90 % of domestic production of field tomatoes (for processing) was under production aid system.
