Watermelons: higher import, decline in prices

This week at the wholesale market in Poznań prices of watermelons (packed in 20 kg boxes) are 2.50 - 2.90 PLN/kg. In Białystok wholesale prices are 3.40 - 3.60 PLN/kg.

During the same period of last year prices in Poznań were 4.50 - 5.00 PLN/kg and in Białystok 5.00 - 6.00 PLN/kg. This year decline in prices was caused by higher supply at the market as a result of higher import.
