Weekly summary

During the period before 1st May tomatoes price recession was expected. Prices decreased as a result of high demand and uncertain sales. Price of tomatoes size B is lower by 0.50 PLN, size BB by 0.70 PLN in comparison with those of previous week. There is lack of tomatoes size A
and BBB.

Wholesale quantities of Chinese cabbage of previous season are finished. Bigger amount of young Chinese cabbage growing under protection are already available. Presently young Chinese cabbage at weight 0.8 – 1 kg is offered with green outside leaves. Cabbage is packed in boxes of 8 kg. Prices decreased to 1.70 – 2.00 PLN/kg and as a result of high supply further decline in prices is expected.

Prices of cucumbers are also decreasing as a result of growing demand and further decline in prices is expected.
Quantity and quality of headed cabbage are insufficient. Cabbage in satisfactory condition at the dispatching stage during long transport start rotting. In the end of next week wholesale quantities of young domestic cabbage are expected. Presently young cabbage from Macedonia is sold.
Quality of vegetables domestic origin such as beetroots, celery, onion, leeks or carrot is unsatisfactory for long transport. These products should be sold as quick as possible. Shortage of these products is supplemented by imported products.

Prices of apples are stable. Export to the eastern countries is very low. Presently apples are sold mainly to the shops at domestic market.

Wholesale price is 2.40 – 2.50 PLN/kg.
