Weekly summary – fresh-market.pl price analyse

In the second week of June prices of dessert strawberries ranged from 0.59 to 1.18 EUR/kg depending on quality. Prices started increasing on Friday, June 13th. Price of strawberries ‘Honeoye’ was 0.88 EUR/kg and price of variety Marmolada was over 1.18 EUR/kg.

At the beginning of the second week of June prices of strawberries for processing were at low (according to producers) level of 0.37 – 0.52 EUR/kg. Weather is the main factor influencing prices. Sunny, dry weather caused anxieties that the season will be too short and crops will not meet demand to strawberries. It probably caused that prices of strawberries for processing started increasing last week. On Friday, June 13th price of strawberries without stalk and calyx reached 0.88 EUR/kg. Demand was high what probably will result in further price increase.

Last week bigger volumes of cherries ‘Burlat’ appeared on the market. At the begging price was over 2.95 EUR/kg and then they stabilized on the level of 1.77 – 2.65 EUR/kg depending on size and quality.

Purchase of gooseberry started. Price is not stable and so far it is at level of 0.59 EUR/kg.
After forecasted decrease of price of tomatoes size BB from 1.12 to 0.59 EUR/kg on Monday, June 9th, average price of these tomatoes in the end of last week was 0.83 EUR/kg.

At the beginning of last week prices of cauliflowers were deeply decreasing but on Thursday and Friday prices started increasing. On Friday, June 13th price was about 0.5 EUR/piece. Lower supply of cauliflowers on the market was the reason of price increase. Heavy crops of cauliflowers growing under protection is ending, moreover cool nights in the end of week delayed the growth of cauliflowers. Increase of cauliflowers prices is rather temporary and will last till next heavy crop.
In the second week of June some domestic vegetables appeared on the market: broccoli at price 0.35 – 0.53 EUR/piece, courgettes at price ranged from 2.06 EUR/kg at the begging of week to 1.03 EUR/ kg in the end of week and beetroots. Demand for beetroots is much higher than supply what results in high price at level of 1.03 EUR/kg.

Last week price of French beans decreased. At the beginning of June price of French beans was about 4.72 EUR/kg while in the end of last week prices ranged from 1.53 to 1.71 EUR/kg.
