Weekly summary – fresh-market.pl price analyse (14-20.07.08)

In third week of July purchase price of black currants did not change and stayed at level 0.56 – 0.62 EUR/kg. Purchase of late varieties (e.g. Ben Adler) started.
As regards purchase prices of sour cherries the consecutive week of July did not also bring the beneficial changes for producers and prices even decreased. On Monday, July 14th prices stayed at the level 0.31 – 0.37 EUR/kg however next days prices decreased to the level 0.25 – 0.28 EUR/kg.
Prices of dark colour cherries of varieties Regina and Kordia stayed at level of 1.24 – 1.55 EUR/kg. Price of the best quality, intended for export was even 2.48 EUR/kg. Price of bright colour cherries stayed at level of 0.93 EUR/kg.
Last week first domestic plums appeared on the market, mainly variety Herman. On Monday, July 14th their price was about 0.71 EUR/kg and quickly decreased to the level of 0.31 EUR/kg.
In the third week of July first varieties of apples also appeared on the market, among others Early Geneva. Price of these apples is at the level 0.93 – 1.09 EUR/kg.
The third week of July was a period when downwards trend stayed for many vegetables. Last week prices of many vegetables decreased. Average price of beetroots at the beginning of week was 0.27 EUR/kg, and in the end 0.22 zloty/kg. On Monday, July 14th price of carrots was 0.39 EUR/kg and on Friday, July 18th price was 0.28 EUR/kg. Price of tomatoes in the end of week was 0.66 EUR/kg for B size and 0.67 EUR/kg for BB size while at the beginning of week these prices were appropriately: 0.76 EUR/kg and 0.81 EUR/kg. One can see that tomatoes not only became cheaper, but difference between prices of different sizes also reduced.
Price of French beans also decreased. In the end of the second week of July price of French beans was 0.93 EUR/kg while in the end of last week decreased to average level of 0.54 EUR/kg.
Last week upwards trend concerned cauliflowers. On Friday, July 11th average price of cauliflowers was 0.33 EUR/piece, but next days it was huge increase to the average level of 0.67 EUR/piece (locally even to 0.71 EUR/piece). Increase of prices of these vegetables is connected with temporary lack of cauliflowers on the market. Next week the next heavy crop of cauliflowers is expected and price should decrease to the earlier level.
The first lots of red sweet peppers from surroundings of Radom appeared on the market. The initial price of peppers was 2.02 EUR/kg and in the end of last week decreased to the level of 1.55 EUR/kg. The first heavy crop of red sweet peppers is expected after July 21st.
