Weekly summary – fresh-market.pl price analyse

Presently harvest of black currants is the most popular topic for fruit industry. Harvest started last week and heavy crops are expected in the second week of July.

Starting prices proposed by processing plants are at level of 0.54 – 0.60 EUR/kg but producers says that prices are too low and such prices will not return even costs of production. Probably prices will rise but the question is how this increase will be high.

Last week purchase of strawberries ended in majority of Poland and however crops were high quality of strawberries was not good because of drought. In the end purchase price of strawberries without stalk and calyx were at level of 0.72 – 0.81 EUR/kg.

Unfavourable weather conditions did not harm cherries orchards and crops are quite good, however demand both in the country and abroad is so big that prices are kept at relatively high level. Last week price of cherries of the best quality was at level over 1.49 EUR/kg and on Friday, July 4th reached even 1.79 EUR/kg.

Price of cauliflowers has been decreasing since June 16th, however at the begging of July decrease was less noticeable. On Friday, July 4th average price of cauliflowers was 0.34 EUR/piece.
Last week price of green and white sweet peppers decreased in comparison with last week of June. On Friday, July 4th price of green peppers was at level of 0.83 EUR/kg and price of white peppers was 1.01 EUR/kg. Price of sweet peppers ‘Igołomska’ was about 1.34 EUR/kg.

Price of early potatoes started increasing as a result of drought. On Friday, July 4th price ranged from 0.24 to 0.36 EUR/kg depending on sold quantity.

Last week prices of beetroots decreased to 0.24 – 0.30 EUR/kg as a result of higher supply of these vegetables.

Last week price of tomatoes decreased every day. At the beginning of last week average prices were 0.86 EUR/kg of tomatoes size B and 1.04 EUR/kg of tomatoes of size BB and in the end of week prices were 0.74 EUR/kg and 0.81 EUR/kg.
