In the first week of March prices of both domestic vegetables and imported fruit and vegetables were changing. The prices of most products increased.

On the contrary the prices of apples intended for export remained stable. The price level didn't change week-on-week, even in spite of bigger export to Ukraine which was caused by increase of customs duty since 6 March. Last week big amounts of Polish apples were delivered to Ukraine.
As regards domestic vegetables, beets, celeries, leeks and Chinese cabbage became more expensive. The average price of Chinese cabbage packed into cardboard boxes increased from 1.20 PLN (0.25 euro)/kg to 1.35 PLN (0.28 euro)/kg and additionally one can expect that prices in areas where Chinese cabbage is still cheaper (e.g. łódzkie province) will increase to higher price level - 1.50 PLN (0.31 euro)/kg in the surroundings of Warsaw. Generally one can observe that the supply of domestic vegetables, especially leeks is starting decreasing. The decreasing supply caused a rise in prices. However it doesn't concern onion, white and red cabbage. The prices of onion and white cabbage remain stable at least from the half of February and prices of red cabbage have downward trend. Since the beginning of March the average price of red cabbage decreased by about 25 % to 0.40 (0.08 euro)/kg.

After the period of downward trend the prices of the majority of imported vegetables were increasing. As regards tomatoes their price was higher than at the beginning of February. The price of red sweet pepper was 7.50 PLN (1.58 euro)/kg i.e. it was only slightly lower than its price one month ago - 8 PLN (1.68 euro)/kg.

On the contrary prices of imported cucumbers were decreasing and this downward trend has been lasting since the beginning of February.

On the Polish market one can still observe the smaller supply of Spanish mandarins and their prices are high – over 62 PLN (13.05 euro)/10 kg for loose mandarins. On the other hand it causes that the sale of oranges is better. The supply of oranges is higher and their price 30 – 45 PLN (6.31-9.47 euro)/10 kg is more attractive for buyers.

Last week one could also observe a decrease in supply of bananas and in consequence their price rose to the level 5.20 – 5.60 PLN(1.09-1.18 euro)/kg.
