Anti-GMO campaign!

The amended Law of the Seed,restricts the marketing and registration of GM seeds, but the Council of Ministers prohibits the sowing of such seeds in Polish fields. This includes cultivation of corn MON 810 and potato Amflora, which are authorized for cultivation in the European Union. The Act and the Regulation entered on 28 January.

Information campaign, which has already started, is a reminder that the cultivation of modified crops is prohibited in Poland, and if they detect in the field, they give heavy penalties, including the destruction of crops. For this purpose, will be handed out leaflets, information will also be reported by the media.

Kalemba pointed out that if a farmer has doubt that the seeds that have been genetically modified are, perhaps in March, it is free to check it out in a special laboratory in Torun. He stressed that each part of bought seed should have appropriate label. He added that the crop will be controlled by the State Inspectorate of Plant Health and Seed (PIORIN), which will conduct random testing throughout the country.
