Biggest production area of sweet peppers

The biggest production area of sweet peppers in Poland (fourth in Europe) is situated in surroundings of Radom, in Klwów, Przytyk, Potworów i  Radzanów. Production area in this region is estimated at 1000 ha and production amounted at over 40 thousand tons.

Sweet peppers is cultivated in unheated polytunnels. The second big area of sweet peppers production is surroundings of Igołomia, Proszowice and Sandomierz where sweet peppers is also cultivated in unheated polytunnels. In last years more and more growers were interested in production of sweet peppers. Sweet peppers became the most important product growing in polytunnels so called ‘igołomski’ type (size: 30 m long, 4 m wide and 1.5 m high). Sweet peppers is cultivated in about 3 000 thousand polytunnels but recently production area of field sweet peppers has been growing.
