Consumption of fruit

According to examinations of households conducted by the GUS consumption of fresh and processed fruit takes the fifth place (after the meat, products from cereals, eggs and dairy products and vegetables).

Consumption of these products in 2007 amounted to 40.80 kg/per capita/year. The largest consumption concerns apples among domestic fruit (15.72 kg/per capita/year), citrus fruit (4.20 kg/per capita/year) and bananas (4.2 kg/per capita/year) among imported fruit. In a few last years consumption of domestic fruit was at stable level but by contrast consumption of bananas increased, in 2005 amounted to 2.4 kg/per capita/year and in 2006 - 3.48 kg/per capita/year.
