Cucumbers for pickling

In śląskie province processing plants started purchasing of cucumbers for pickling (size 6-9 cm). At the beginning of season price is at quite high level of 0.55 EUR/kg and is higher by 0.06 EUR/kg than price of last year.

Cucumbers plantations must be irrigated because of drought. Forecasts of the production of field cucumbers, prepared by IERiGŻ-PIB shows that in 2008 crops will decrease to 270 thousand tons in comparison with crops of last year (293 thousand tons).
