Cultivated mushrooms: producers wait for better export

Exporters of fresh mushrooms expect that in the first half of 2009 orders from foreign recipients will increase.

This year lower exchange rate of Polish currency can be a favorable factor for increasing export, but on the other hand we have the limiting factor – the worldwide recession and financial crisis which can cause the reduction of the demand for imported products. Fresh mushrooms are exported mainly in the first half of every year. In the second half of the year in the summer period the production of mushrooms as well as their export are lower. During the period 2004 - 2008 the export of mushrooms much increased from 44.8 thousand t in the first half of 2004 to 62.6 thousand t in the first half 2008 r. i.e. by about 40 %.
