Drought changes price of strawberries for processing

In Kujawsko-pomorskie province (area of Grudziądz and Dąbrowa Chełmińska) prices of strawberries for deep freezing delivered to plant are one of the highest in the country and reach 0.80 – 0.83 EUR/kg.

In general purchase prices fluctuate daily (changes of few cents) in the whole country. Many of processors being afraid of the short season due to drought start offering higher prices than competitors. Drought in Kujawsko-pomorskie province has started already in April and may be very dangerous for plantations put on light soils. Most of plantations is not irrigated due to restrictions in water supply and/or lack of appropriate equipment.
