Growing import of table grapes

According to the latest forecasts of IERiGŻ-PIB the import of table grapes in season 2008/ 2009 can grow to about 140 thousand ton and it would be by about 5 thousand t more compared to the season 2007/2008.

The consumption of table grapes in Poland has been growing since the access to EU. Before 2004 the import of table grapes was below 115 thousand ton and in 2007 amounted to over 135 thousand ton.

The biggest import of grapes is in autumn months. In 2007 the highest import was in October (20.8 thousand ton at value 20.4 million euro). In September 2008 the import of table grapes amounted 19 thousand ton at value 17 million euro.
