Higher crops of sweet peppers in Turkey

This year crops of sweet peppers in Turkey will probably be much higher than last year when a drought and high temperatures ruled.

This year one will have to pay about 0.90 euro/kg for deep-frozen green peppers and 1.0 euro/kg for deep-frozen red and yellow sweet peppers. Last year Turkey lost its dominating position of deep-frozen sweet peppers supplier to UE market. Now Spain is the main supplier. In 2007 supplies from Turkey amounted to 43.7 thousand ton. This year in the first half of year Turkey exported to UE 12.5 thousand ton of deep-frozen sweet peppers while in the same time of last year they exported 18.0 thousand ton.
