Idared still the most popular
According to GUS (Central Statistical Office) Idared is still the most popular variety among all varieties of apples growing in domestic orchards but its importance is going down to the benefit of new varieties Joangold and Shampion.
In 2007 production area of Idared variety was 27.7 thousand hectras and amount of trees was 15.6 million. Crops of Idared amounted to 127.7 thousand tons in 2007. Among the most popular varieties growing in Poland there are Jonagold and Shampion which importance is growing gradually. In 2007 crops of these two varieties were respectively 127.2 thousand tons and 101.9 thousand tons.
