Lack of iceberg lettuce

We have bad news from Spain and Italy. Warm weather causes worse conditions of vegetation and decreases production. Everything indicates that there will be less vegetables on tha European market.

Lower supply is a reason of rising prices. What is more the most significant deacrease of iceberg lettuce will be in time of biggest demand, around Easter.

Due to this vegetables are already more expensive in Holland where exporters have risen prices from EUR 4.00 / 10 pieces to EUR 7.70 / 10 pieces.

What about Polish market? Currently prices remain stable. Iceberg lettuce from Spain cost PLN 25.00 - 28.00 / 10 pieces (wholesale price).

Everything may change very soon similarly to last year. At the beginning of April the average price of iceberg lettuce was at the level of PLN 2.50 / piece. In May it was PLN 4.50 / piece.
