Onion: crops forecast is not good

When we already informed, a dozen or so rainy days firmly worsened conditions of the harvest of onion and it affected its quality adversely. On fields one can see, that the plenty of onion is still waiting for the harvest.

Additionally last preliminary data on crops released by the Polish Central Statistical Office (GUS) are more pessimistic than previous. The level of onion crops predicted earlier was lowered from 650 thousand ton to 600 thousand ton. This year's crop will be at the level of about 80% of crops of 2007 and will also be lower than average harvests of years 2001 - 2005. At the moment one cannot observe the changes in prices of onion. On Tuesday, September 30th prices of onion fluctuated from 0.13 to 0.16 EUR/kg depending on the size.
