Poland: apples cheaper than last year

As long as Russia and Ukraine do not import bigger amount of Polish apples the prices cannot increase.

The supply of apples is high and their quality is good but producer prices at the level of 0.40 PLN (0.10 euro)/kg for apples 70 + are lower than last year. Apples Golden Delicious are also cheaper - 0.60 - 0.80 PLN (0.15-0.19 euro)/kg. In November last year, export level was much higher than this year. This year on the Russian market there is big supply of apples from Moldova where apples crops were higher by about 30% than in 2008. The only hope for bigger export is the lack of suitable cold stores in Moldova and Russia so the demand for apples from Poland should increase soon.
