Polish market overview - 9 week 2011

In 9 week 2011 prices of onion remained stable at average level of 1.16 PLN (0.29 euro)/kg. Prices of imported onion were also unchanged . Dutch onion cost 1.40 PLN (0.35 euro)/kg for size 4-6 and 1.60 PLN (0.4 euro)/kg for size 6-8.
As it was expected the wholesale price of Chinese cabbage was still growing quickly and reached 2.90 PLN (0.72 euro)/kg. Comparing to the same period of last years price of Chinese cabbage is really high.

Prices of potatoes was also increasing. It was caused by still the same problem of the current season – the lack of product of good quality and bigger sizes. The demand for Polish potatoes from Russian market was high but it was difficult to collect required amounts of potatoes.

In this season market of carrot is one of the most stable sector in the whole vegetables market. In 9 week the average price of carrot remained stable at the level of 1.15 PLN (0.29 euro)/kg.

Price of white cabbage was growing and the average price reached 1.80 PLN (0.45 euro)/kg.

The wholesale price of citrus fruit generally remained stable with exception of lemons price imported form Spain which decreased by 7 % week-on-week to 30 PLN (7.50 euro)/10 kg. Price of mandarins was 3.80-4.00 PLN (0.95 -1.00 euro)/kg for fruit from Morocco and 3.20-4.50 PLN (1.12 euro)/kg depending on size for fruit imported from Spain.

In 9 week it was noted further increase in prices of apples. However the growth was less than previous weeks. Only price of Idared increased more significantly and reached 2.00 PLN (0.50 euro)/kg for apples from ordinary cold store and 2.10-2.30 PLN (0.52-0.57 euro)/kg for apples from CA.
