Prices of pears – as far lower than last year

This year GUS estimated the production of pears at 66 thousand ton, i.e. twice higher than in 2007. The higher supply caused the decrease in prices.

This week the average purchase price of dessert pears is about 0.59 EUR/kg. In surroundings of Nowy Sącz price is 0.44 EUR/kg, and in podkarpackie province 0.44-0.56 EUR/kg.

The highest price is offered in purchasing centres in the area of Białystok – 0.88 EUR/kg. Last year the average purchase price of pears was 0.73 EUR/kg.
