Production of cherries: very bad year

For a few years Poland is the second important producer of sour cherries in the world (the first one is Russia). This year the profitability of the production of sour cherries was very low.

At the crops of 20 t/ha the production costs of sour cherries increased to 0.36 - 0.41 EUR/kg. At such costs of the purchase price of sour cherries should be above 0.53 EUR/kg for sour cherries for the production of concentrate and 0.65 – 0.74 EUR/kg for fruit for deep-freezing and 0.83 – 0.98 EUR/kg for dessert sour cherries. This year the purchase price of sour cherries for deep - freezing decreased to 0.24 - 0.27 EUR/kg and sour cherries for juice concentrate to 0.15 - 0.18 EUR/kg.
