Spain and Turkey have established themselves on the Polish lemon market for good.

 After a period of summer high prices, winter will be full of cheap lemons from the South of Europe. How much does  lemon fruit from Spain and Turkey cost today?

This year's season for southern European citrus fruit has just begun and already abounds in very cheap fruit. From the very beginning of the campaign Spanish lemons have been offered by importers at very affordable prices, ranging from PLN 11,60- 14,00 EUR per 10 kg of carton, i.e. from EUR 1,16  to 1,40 per kg gross. Lemons from Turkey are even cheaper, while their prices still fell by about 15% per kilo at the end of November. Today, buying lemons from Turkey is an expense of 8,15 - 10,50 EUR per 10 kg of carton (0,82 - 1,05 EUR/kg gross).

Prices of lemons in terms of their country of origin are quite diversified, as is the way they are traded. In small wholesale trade, Spanish lemons dominate for retailers, while Turkish lemons dominate in retail chains and wholesalers supplying smaller supermarkets, and often retail chains are independent importers of fruit, thanks to which, while reducing intermediaries to a minimum, they can offer cheaper products.
