Weekly summary – fresh-market.pl price analyse (07 – 13.07.08)

In the second week of July purchase price of black currants practically did not change, and even, in some regions of the country they decreased. In the end of last week price was 0,55 – 0.61 EUR/kg, however during the week price increased to 0.73 EUR/kg.
Last week purchase of sour cherries started. On the market early varieties appeared. Purchase price ranged from 0.18 to 0.37 EUR/kg depending on region of Poland and day of purchase. In the end of week prices stayed at level of 0.24 – 0.31 EUR/kg and nothing shows that they will grow. Bigger amount of sour cherries are expected this week when variety ‘Łutówka’ will appear on the market and then the price situation should become clearer.
In the second week of July prices of many vegetables were decreasing and below we are describing changes in prices of more important vegetables.
Price of cauliflowers was decreasing last week. On Monday, July 7th average wholesale price was 0.35 EUR/piece and in the end of week price was 0.32/piece.
Average price of beetroots at level of 0.31 EUR/kg stayed only about one week. On Thursday, July 10th average price of beetroots decreased to 0.27 EUR/kg and this price stayed by the end of the week So one can see, that anxieties about insufficient supply of beetroots were unjustified.
After several days of price’s stabilization at average level of 0.17 EUR/kg, on Thursday, July 10th price of early cabbages again decreased to average level of 0.15 EUR/kg. In some regions of Poland cabbages at price 0.08 EUR/kg appeared. So far the lowest price 0.09 EUR/kg was noted on July 4th.
Relatively high price of French beans stayed to the begging of last week. On Monday, July 7th price of French beans was 1.45 EUR/kg and during next days, together with rising supply, price was decreasing to the average level of 0.92 EUR/kg.
Prices of early carrots stayed at level 0.48 – 0.51 EUR/kg to July 9th, then price of carrots started decreasing and finished the week at the average level of 0.41 EUR/kg.
As regards tomatoes it was possible to observe that prices were minimally increasing by the majority of the week (to average price 0.82 EUR/kg for tomatoes size B and 0.89 EUR/kg for tomatoes size BB). In the end of week price decreased by 0.06 – 0.09 EUR/kg and on Friday, July 11th average price of tomatoes size B was 0.75 EUR/kg and tomatoes size BB 0.80 EUR/kg.
