Weekly summary – fresh-market.pl price analyse (21-27.07.08)

The level of purchase price of sour cherries is undoubtedly a hot topic of last days. In spite of protests of fruit growers, last week price did not only increase, but they had a downward trend. In many places price of cherries for deep-freezing was 0.22 EUR/kg.
Purchase prices of black currants stayed the consecutive week stable and their average price 0.59 – 0.62 EUR/kg.
On the market there is less of cherries. In the end of last week wholesale price of cherries ranged from 1.46 to 1.59 EUR/kg.
In the fourth week of July price of plums and apples decreased. In comparison with prices from period 14- 20.07, price of the cheapest variety of plums Herman was about 0.06 EUR/kg less and was 0.25 EUR/kg. On Monday, July 21st average price of apples of Early Geneva variety still was 0.65 EUR/kg and on Friday, July 25th average price decreased to 0.50 EUR/kg.
Last week prices of many vegetables continued their downward trend. Price of red sweet peppers were deeply decreasing, especially in the end of week. On Friday, July 25th average price was 1.01 EUR/kg.
Price of aubergines also decreased. On Monday, July 21st their price was 1.00 EUR/kg, and in the end of week 0.81 EUR/kg.
Price of beetroots, carrots and tomatoes also were decreasing but their downward trend was little. In the end of the week price of beetroots stabilized at average level of 0.20 EUR/kg and price of carrots finished the week at the level of 0.22 EUR/kg.
As regards tomatoes differences in prices of tomatoes of A, B and BB sizes practically disappeared. In the end of the week price of tomatoes packed in 6 kg boxes was 3.12 EUR/box.
After the period of considerable decrease of price of French beans price stabilized and since Tuesday, July 22nd average price has been at level of 0.51 EUR/kg.
Practically the entire last week prices of cauliflowers and broccoli stayed at high level. The expected heavy crop of these vegetables depends on weather conditions. On Friday, July 25th average price of cauliflowers decreased because the first deliveries of cheaper cauliflowers from surroundings of Zamość appeared on the market and their price was 0.63 EUR/piece. In the end of the week average price of broccoli was 0.53 EUR/piece.
